The stories were more naive than ...

I remember this in 1961 when he was thrown through the window there was a sudden lull because he should have come back in the room and I remember saying to my mum " something has happened" then an announcement was made and the credits came up on the screen and the show finished.

Ohhh, Duncan Davies. for years I kept searching on Google for mention of the Bumblies to no avail, and today my search found this tiny snippet. I was six and my sister was 2 or something and my mother said my sister adored them. Please, i don't know where you got this snippet, but please can we have some more? Please, please? I seem to recall there was a sand box set out like a beach in one episode and they had a fight on the beach and little bits of the beach would explode as 'shells' hit. Does that ring any bells?

In 1954 up in Carlisle, TV was in its infancy and we received grainy images from southern Scotland. Dad bought a set to watch the Coronation but I keep that quiet. Remember the Bumblies and Billy Bean in particular but not many TVs around so not many kids remembered them.

This was a great act, that I always looked forward to seeing. Bob Monkhouse, (who was once doing a summer season with Saveen), said that Saveen would answer his telephone in the voice of his ventriloquist dummy Daisy May, then keep callers waiting, while Daisy May 'went to fetch Saveen'!, (a bit worrying?!)
